K.A. Moro, a former communications director under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, has reportedly fled Ghana following a surge in ethnic violence and alleged political persecution.
Moro previously served as the Communications Director at the now-defunct Ministry of Special Development Initiatives and later at the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development.
His departure is believed to be linked to escalating tensions in Bawku, his hometown, where renewed clashes between the Kusaasi and Mamprusi ethnic groups have led to fatalities and mass displacement.
While the precise reasons for his decision to leave the country remain unclear, sources close to Moro suggest that his exit may have been prompted by safety concerns.
He was reportedly attacked while en route to his workplace shortly after the December 2024 elections.
The decades-long conflict between the Kusaasi and Mamprusi rooted in land disputes and political rivalry intensified in late October 2024, taking on national dimensions.
Analysts say the violence has been exacerbated by political figures who exploit ethnic divisions to advance their agendas.
Caught in the middle of the turmoil, Moro, who belongs to one of the warring ethnic groups and is affiliated with the ruling NPP, became a target for both physical assaults and political intimidation.
Sources confirm that he has since sought refuge in an undisclosed country, citing threats to his life and that of his family.
Despite his departure, Moro remains politically vocal on his social media platforms. Efforts to reach Moro for comment have so far been unsuccessful.
