The French Embassy in Ghana has responded to concerns raised by the New Ghana Social Justice Forum regarding Sarkodie’s scheduled performance at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In a letter addressed to Mr. Yahaya Alhassan, the Embassy clarified that Sarkodie will not be performing at the opening ceremony, but rather at the Africa Fan Zone “Station Afrique” event on August 9th, 2024, at Stade Robert César-L’Île-Saint-Denis.
The Embassy emphasized its commitment to promoting equal human rights, gender equality, and women’s empowerment, and assured that it does not endorse any form of discrimination or actions that undermine these values.
The New Ghana Social Justice Forum had expressed concerns about Sarkodie’s performance due to alleged misogynistic lyrics in his music.
The Embassy’s response aims to address these concerns and provide clarity on the nature of Sarkodie’s involvement in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
