Ghana and Japan have signed a $20 million grant agreement to support healthcare delivery in selected hospitals in the Northern Region.
The exchange of notes was signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Accra between Ghanaian officials and Japan’s Ambassador to Ghana, Hiroshi Yoshimoto.

The grant is expected to improve access to quality and affordable healthcare services in beneficiary facilities in the Northern Region.
Officials said the funding forms part of ongoing cooperation between the two countries and reflects their shared commitment to strengthening Ghana’s health sector.

The government described access to quality and affordable healthcare as a key priority of the Mahama administration, adding that the support from Japan would help enhance service delivery in underserved areas.
Ghana and Japan also reaffirmed their commitment to deepening diplomatic ties and advancing development cooperation through impactful bilateral partnerships.
