The Government of Ghana has announced plans to begin construction of a new concourse at the Kotoka International Airport as part of efforts to expand and modernize the country’s main international gateway.
The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, disclosed the development in a Facebook post, stating that the project will commence later this month.
According to the minister, the ultra-modern concourse will link Terminals 2 and 3 of the airport and is expected to ease congestion while improving the overall passenger experience through the provision of world-class facilities.
The new concourse will feature five additional passenger boarding bridges, five passenger holding areas, and bi-directional travelators to facilitate smoother movement within the terminal. It will also include five new escalators and elevators, a VIP lounge, four business lounges, and four retail and duty-free outlets.
The project forms part of a broader infrastructure upgrade being undertaken by the Ghana Airports Company Limited to enhance operational efficiency and accommodate increasing passenger traffic at the airport.
Officials say the initiative is aimed at positioning Accra as a competitive aviation hub in the region while improving comfort and convenience for travelers.
