The government has justified its decision to award the Damang Mining Lease to local firm Engineers and Planners, citing the company’s strong technical and financial performance during the bidding process.
At a media briefing on Thursday, the Entity Tender Committee disclosed that Engineers and Planners (E&P) scored over 93 percent in the evaluation of submitted bids, emerging as the top contender.
In a subsequent statement, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, confirmed that the government had accepted the committee’s recommendation to award the lease to the company.
Secretary to the Entity Tender Committee, Joseph Kofi Roko, further explained that E&P’s demonstrated financial capacity played a decisive role in its selection, placing it ahead of competing bidders.
The government maintains that the decision reflects a transparent and merit-based procurement process, while also supporting the growth of local participation in the mining sector.
