Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has publicly refused to appear before a disciplinary committee he describes as a “kangaroo”.
The committee was reportedly set up by the party’s national leadership in response to comments he made.
On July 24, 2025, a letter surfaced, allegedly signed by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, summoning Kwame Baffoe to answer allegations related to his recent public statements.
The letter was intended to refer him to the party’s disciplinary committee for further action.
In a statement released on July 25, Kwame Baffoe categorically denied having received any official communication from the party headquarters regarding the disciplinary process.
He expressed skepticism about the authenticity of the letter circulating on social media.
He stated emphatically, “If the letter circulating on social media is anything to go by, I must state on record that I will not appear before any kangaroo disciplinary committee.”
Abronye reiterated his commitment to speaking his mind on issues affecting the party, despite the risk of losing his position as regional chairman.
He emphasized that his activism and relevance within the NPP do not depend on holding any official title.
He declared “I, Kwame Baffoe Abronye cannot be intimidated to keep quiet in the party. I will continue to speak my mind on all issues within the party.
“I am willing to sacrifice everything for the right thing to be done in the party if it means loosing everything including my position as regional chairman. I do not need that position to be active or relevant within the party.”
Abronye also urged his supporters to remain steadfast amid the controversy, assuring them that “this too shall pass.”
He advised the General Secretary to prioritize efforts on restoring the party’s lost glory rather than engaging in what he described as “unnecessary matters.”
