The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, is calling for immediate public support to address what he describes as a looming health crisis at the Kumasi Secondary Technical School (KSTS).
Speaking in an interview on DayBreak with Kojo Marfo on Fakye TV monitored by Kumasimail, the MCE expressed deep concern over the deplorable state of the school’s facilities and warned of a potential disaster if urgent action is not taken.
“The situation at KSTS is alarming. If the good people of Kumasi and the Ashanti Region can come together to help, I would even go on my knees and plead,” Mr. Boadi said.
“I wish we could dedicate a month of support. If I could get at least 1,000 people to donate GH₵500 each, we could begin addressing this crisis immediately. I can’t sleep over this matter.”

When asked by the host if he was referring to the school’s septic tank, the MCE confirmed and detailed that the challenge extends beyond that.
He cited the poor state of the students’ dormitories, dining hall, toilets, classroom blocks, and furniture as major areas of concern.
“People’s children are living there, but the conditions are simply unfit. If you stand outside, the school looks fine, but once you enter, it’s a heartbreaking scene,” he lamented.
Mr. Boadi made a passionate plea for support, emphasizing that the issue has become too severe to ignore.
“I want 1,000 people in the Ashanti Region to contribute between GH₵100 and GH₵500 each. The sanitation situation is particularly disturbing. I even told the headmaster that if a student takes alcohol before using the toilet due to the unbearable stench and they are punished for it, I won’t support that punishment because no one can withstand that environment,” he said.

He further explained that while the Assembly is committed to improving infrastructure and sanitation in schools, the limited availability of government funds has restricted progress.

“I really want to work, but the resources are not enough to execute my plans. That’s why I’m appealing directly to the public for help,” the MCE added.
Mr. Ofori Agyeman Boadi concluded by assuring the public that every contribution will go directly toward improving the school’s facilities to safeguard the health and dignity of KSTS students.
