The Ghana Police Service has arrested Prophet William Gyimah, founder and General Overseer of Elohim International Ministry, for allegedly issuing death threats against Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang in a viral video circulating on social media.
The suspect, 49, was apprehended on Tuesday during a targeted operation in Kasoa in the Central Region, according to a police statement.
Authorities said the arrest followed surveillance by the Police Service’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET), which flagged a widely shared video on TikTok and other platforms in which the suspect allegedly made threatening remarks.
Police have since transferred Prophet Gyimah to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to assist with ongoing investigations.
In its statement, the Police Administration cautioned the public and media organizations against using their platforms to spread content that could endanger national peace and security.
Officials say further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
