The Prang Traditional Council, in collaboration with authorities of Prang Senior High School (SHS) in the Bono East Region, is appealing to the government, particularly the First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Mahama, to help complete the school’s abandoned dormitory blocks and provide a potable water system.
Established in 1992 during the era of former President Jerry John Rawlings, Prang SHS has been grappling with infrastructural challenges for decades. The uncompleted boys’ and girls’ dormitories, which have been left unattended for several years, have created a serious accommodation crisis for students.
A visit by investigative journalist Oheneba Kesse Brempong revealed that the incomplete dormitory buildings have forced the school to overcrowd existing facilities, worsening living conditions. In addition, the lack of a reliable water supply has further affected the welfare of students, making it difficult for them to focus on academics.
The headmaster of the school stressed the urgent need for government intervention, noting that completing the dormitories and providing a borehole would significantly improve the learning environment and the overall quality of education.
Echoing the call, the Gyaasehene of the Prang Traditional Council, Nana Daka, who spoke on behalf of the Paramount Chief, Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III, emphasized that education is a key investment in Ghana’s future.
He urged Mrs. Lordina Mahama and the government to prioritize the completion of the projects, saying it would ensure the safety, well-being, and academic success of the students.
The Traditional Council and school authorities remain hopeful that their appeal will be heard and that swift action will be taken to address the longstanding infrastructural challenges at Prang SHS.
