The Ashanti Regional Office of the Registrar of Companies has held a farewell ceremony in honor of Nana Ama Akyiaa Prempeh, Chief State Attorney and Regional Head, who is retiring after a distinguished 35-year legal career, including 16 years of outstanding leadership at the Registrar of Companies.

Nana Ama, who joined the office under modest conditions, rose to become a pillar of transformation in Ghana’s business registration system.

She was praised for her instrumental role in the establishment and growth of the Kumasi Regional Office, which has become one of the most efficient and respected branches in the country.

At the ceremony, colleagues and stakeholders hailed her legacy. Mr. Tetteh, Western Regional Manager of the Registrar of Companies, said, “Nana Ama’s leadership turned Kumasi into a central hub for our operations. We truly appreciate your service. As you retire today, go home and rest may God strengthen and bless you.”

Representatives from the Duayaw Nkwanta Kontre family also celebrated her, highlighting her advocacy for women’s empowerment and her support in helping students gain access to secondary education through scholarships.

In her farewell speech, Nana Ama reflected on her career, describing her journey as one of innovation, resilience, and teamwork.

She recounted how she joined the service when monthly business registrations in Kumasi were just 500—a figure that now exceeds 3,000. Under her leadership, revenue grew from GHS 200,000 to over GHS 2.2 million monthly.

She noted the transformation of the office from operating in a four-bedroom house to a modern, multi-story building that now serves as a beacon of public sector efficiency.

She credited her team for their dedication, often working late into the night to ensure timely service delivery.

“The growth we’ve seen is not just about numbers. It’s a testament to trust, improved systems, and the hard work of every staff member,” Nana Ama said.

Staff and attendees applauded her achievements and leadership, describing her not only as a boss but also as a mother figure in the workplace. She emphasized that the success of the Kumasi office was a result of collective effort, resilience, and a commitment to excellence.

A citation presented to her recognized her as a visionary whose leadership significantly elevated the status and capacity of the Ashanti Regional Office, leaving a legacy that will benefit future generations.

As she retires, Nana Ama Akyiaa Prempeh leaves behind a transformed institution and a deeply grateful community of colleagues and stakeholders who will remember her not only for her professional excellence but also for her humanity and mentorship.

The Acting Registrar of Companies, Maame Samaa praised the outgoing Chief state Attorney at the office of the registrar of companies for her dedication, visionary leadership, and lasting impact on the institution.

“On behalf of the entire Registrar of Companies family, I want to express our deepest appreciation to Nana Ama for her unwavering commitment and loyalty to this office,” Maame Ama said. “She has built a solid foundation and helped establish the Registrar of Companies as a trusted brand.”

Describing her departure as a bittersweet moment, the Acting Registrar noted that while Nana Ama’s absence would be deeply felt, her contributions and the high standards she set would continue to inspire staff.

“She’s left an indelible mark—not just through her work, but in who she is. Her leadership style, mentorship, and deep institutional knowledge have shaped the culture and direction of this office. We simply cannot tell the story of the Registrar of Companies without her,” Maame Ama added.

She concluded by wishing Nana Ama a fulfilling retirement, stating, “Though you are stepping away from your official duties, your legacy will remain a part of us. Thank you for everything, and may your next chapter be as impactful as the journey you’ve just completed.”
