A tragic armed robbery attack has plunged the Traa community within the Techiman Metropolis of the Bono East Region into mourning, following the killing of a 16-year-old girl and the theft of several properties during a power outage on the night of Friday, April 4, 2025.
According to local residents, an unidentified group of armed men stormed the area under the cover of darkness caused by the power outage locally referred to as Dumsor and broke into multiple homes, making away with cash, mobile phones, and other valuables.
The most harrowing aspect of the robbery was the discovery of a young girl, identified as Lawrencia Yaa Afra, lifeless in her room the next morning.
Lawrencia, a form two student of Guakro Effah Senior High School in Offuman (Techiman North Municipality), was reportedly found in a pool of blood, suspected to have been murdered by the robbers during the attack.

However upon Link News arrival toTraa Community, the Techiman District Police Patrol Team had already transported the body of the deceased to the morgue.
The grieving mother of the victim, Madam Diana Boateng, shared her heartbreaking experience in a tearful interview.
Several victims whose homes were raided during the robbery also narrated their ordeals to Link News, recounting how they were threatened at gunpoint and stripped of their possessions.
In reaction to the horrific event, the Queen Mother of Traa, Nana Adwoa Amankwaah, and the Mmrateɛhene of the community, Nana Ɛkoɔba Gyasi, expressed shock and sorrow over the incident, describing it as unprecedented in the history of Traa.
They appealed for heightened police presence in the area and also disclosed that the traditional authorities would consult the village deity, Boɔtwerewa, to spiritually aid in identifying the culprits.
While the Techiman District Police Command declined to comment on record, they confirmed the incident to reporters.
According to police sources, Lawrencia’s body has been deposited at the Holy Family Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
Investigations into the case have commenced, and police have assured the public of their commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
This heartbreaking incident has left the Traa community gripped with fear and sadness, prompting renewed calls for stronger security measures across the Bono East Region’s vulnerable communities.
