The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, has assured of the police service’s readiness to ensure law and order ahead, during and after the December polls.
According to him, the service is ready to work diligently to ensure that Ghana triumphed at the end of the day.
Speaking at the Electoral Commission headquarters in Accra on Monday, he said personnel would be deployed to all polling centres where the exhibition exercise will take place.
“Since the commencement of the whole election process, we will be in and out of this place all in the spirit of engagement, in the spirit of working together to ensure that from the security point of view, there is peace, security, law and order before, during, and beyond the elections…We want to assure all and sundry that we are poised for what is ahead,” he stated.
The IGP has also urged all stakeholders to remain calm as the EC works to resolve any challenges that may arise.
“We urge them to do their part within the law and allow us to do our work within the law. So that when all is said and done Ghana will be the beneficiary,” he stated.
