Thirty-two Chartered Accountants, including the Minister for National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah, have contributed GH¢160,000 to support the Heal Komfo Anokye Project, an initiative spearheaded by His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The project aims to renovate the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Ghana’s largest referral health facility.
The Chartered Accountants, many of whom hail from the Ashanti and Ahafo regions or received their professional training in the Ashanti region, were led by Dr. Robert Donaldy during the donation. This gesture is part of their collective effort to answer the Asantehene’s call to help restore the hospital, which serves both Ghana and neighboring countries.
Dr. Donaldy, speaking after presenting the cheque and touring sections of the hospital under renovation, highlighted the significance of the contribution. “We are responding to the Asantehene’s call to save KATH. What we have witnessed today is remarkable—the facility is being transformed into a modern health center,” he noted.
He encouraged Ghanaians from all walks of life to join the cause, emphasizing that every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a difference.

Sammy Adu Boakye, Chairman of the Heal Komfo Anokye Project, expressed his gratitude to the Chartered Accountants for their generous support. “We are deeply grateful for this gesture. We hope they will serve as ambassadors, sharing what they have seen to inspire others to support this critical initiative.”
He further called on Ghanaians to demonstrate patriotism and a spirit of self-help, stating, “This is about building our nation together. Every little effort counts as we strive to make Ghana a better place for all.”
A State-of-the-Art Transformation
When asked about the scope of the renovation, Adu Boakye revealed that the hospital is being upgraded to meet modern healthcare standards. For the first time, each hospital bed will feature its own oxygen pod, enhancing patient care.
Additionally, the renovated facility will feature a centralized air conditioning system, an advanced extraction system to ensure proper ventilation by removing odors and bringing in fresh air, and expanded lavatory facilities—improved from four to twelve.
The Chartered Accountants’ contribution marks a significant step toward the realization of this vital project, inspiring hope for a brighter future for healthcare in Ghana.
