The 6 Infantry Battalion (6BN), as part of its Civil–Military Cooperation activities, has donated assorted relief items to the Veterans Administration Ghana (VAG) in Tamale and the Shekhinah Home for the Poor and Destitute.
The donation, made on Thursday, December 18, 2025, included a cow, assorted drinks, water, bags of rice and maize, cooking oil, toiletries, and an undisclosed amount of money to support the two institutions.
Speaking at the presentation, the Commanding Officer of 6BN, Lieutenant Colonel Jerry Yao Agbeko Ankuyi, noted that the role of the military extends beyond operational duties to include civic responsibilities that positively impact society.
He explained that the gesture, made in the spirit of the Christmas festivities, represented the Battalion’s modest contribution toward supporting VAG and the Shekhinah Home. He further urged corporate organisations and individuals to show similar compassion to vulnerable institutions and commended the management of the Shekhinah Home for their selfless service to humanity.
Receiving the items on behalf of VAG, Ex–Senior Warrant Officer Class Two (Ex SWOII) Ajibtah Fidelis expressed gratitude to the Commanding Officer and the entire Battalion for the timely and generous support.
Similarly, the Chief Executive Officer of the Shekhinah Home for the Poor and Destitute, Madam Mariama Abdulai, thanked the Commanding Officer and described 6BN as a consistent supporter of the Home. She disclosed that the facility currently feeds about 200 people daily, with more than 30 residents permanently accommodated.
She added that the Home also provides free medical services to surrounding communities and appealed to the general public for support to sustain its operations.
