The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Heal Komfo Anokye Project after inspecting ongoing work at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

The project, which was launched in November 2023 with a$10 million fundraising target, aims to renovate the over 70-year-old hospital, which serves more than 12 regions in Ghana.

During his tour on Friday, January 31, 2025, Otumfuo was pleased with the significant progress made, as Phase One of the project is now 95% complete.

The first phase, which covers the renovation of two floors of Block A, has been fully refurbished and furnished, with only the installation of an oxygen bedhead system left before it becomes operational.

Samuel Adu-Boakye, Chairman of the Heal Komfo Anokye Project, disclosed that patients currently accommodated in a makeshift ward would soon be moved to the newly renovated floors. This relocation will pave the way for Phase Two of the renovation to begin.

He assured that work on the next phase would proceed efficiently, as most of the necessary materials were already in place.

Adu-Boakye expressed gratitude to all donors, acknowledging that nearly $4 million had been raised within six months to support the project. However, he emphasized that additional funds were still needed to complete the full renovation.

“We are privileged to say that many people have donated. Raising almost $4 million in just six months is truly commendable,” he stated.

He further encouraged more people to contribute, especially those who were initially skeptical, urging them to witness the quality of work completed so far and support the ongoing efforts.

The Heal Komfo Anokye Project remains a crucial initiative in restoring Ghana’s second-largest referral hospital, ensuring better healthcare delivery for millions of people.
