The Office of the President has announced an immediate suspension of all post-retirement contract appointments granted to retired public service staff.
The directive, issued in an official memo signed by Callistus Mahama, PhD, Secretary to the President, states that no new requests for post-retirement contract extensions will be entertained moving forward.
“The grant of post-retirement contract appointments to retired public service staff has been suspended with immediate effect,” the notice declared. It further emphasized that all pending or future applications for such contract appointments “will no longer be considered.”
Public institutions and relevant authorities have been instructed to comply strictly with the directive.
The memo, issued from Jubilee House, forms part of ongoing administrative measures within the public sector, though the statement did not provide further details on the reasons behind the suspension.
