A former chief, Nana Okofrobuo Boateng, believed to be in his late 40s, was shot and killed by unknown assailants at Kokoben New Site in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.
The tragic incident has left the community in shock, with family members suspecting foul play and describing the killing as a possible contract hit.
According to relatives, the deceased had survived a similar attack last year, but the perpetrators were neither identified nor apprehended.
Nana Ama, a sister of the deceased, recounted the events leading to the attack in an interview with www.kumasimail.com, She explained that her brother had stepped out to buy food and was shot while entering his gate upon his return.
Police from the Bohyen District Command have conducted initial investigations at the crime scene, and the body of the deceased has been deposited at a morgue pending further inquiries.
Authorities have yet to make any arrests in connection with the killing, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The community and family of Nana Boateng are calling for a thorough probe into the incident to bring the perpetrators to justice.
