Information available indicates a mixed bag of joy and apprehension amongst young Police recruits in Ashanti Region who are praying fervently for the President and the ruling New Patriotic Party to retain ppwer to enable them replicate the magnificent police housing project in the region.
Many young police officers according to sources are impressed with the beautiful gesture the government has done for the police in the Greater Accra Region and are yearning for similar one to be undertaken in the Ashanti Region.
For their dream to be fulfilled however, is premised on whether the NPP can retain power in the upcoming December 7 elections.
It is against this backdrop that reports that these police recruits are praying for the victory of the NPP as they fear any change in leadership will dash their hopes and aspirations.
During the inauguration of the 320 Unit outlandish police housing project at Tesano in Accra last week, the Inspector General of Police, COP Dampare heaped praises on the President and the NPP government, describing the investments and support given to the police service under the current administration as unprecedented.
The beautiful housing project, located within the premises of the Police Training School, is fitted with state-of-the-art facilities, which is expected to address the teething housing challenge which had bedeviled the service for several decades.
Some officers who spoke on condition of anonymity expressed the hope that the NPP can remain in power so that the next administration under Vice President Bawumia can extend similar initiative to the Ashanti Region.
“We have seen the beautiful housing project at Tesano and we pray that similar one can be done here in Kumasi for us to also enjoy. This government has done a lot for the police and other security agencies and we hope they can stay in power so that we can also benefit from them” they noted.
