Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe Abronye, has been denied bail for the second time and remanded in police custody.

The court arraigned Abronye today on charges of offensive conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

He has been remanded for one week and is scheduled to reappear in court on September 19, 2025.

The Ghana Police Service confirmed Abronye’s arrest last week in a statement issued on Monday, September 8, but did not disclose specifics of the alleged conduct that prompted his detention.

Kwame Baffoe Abronye, a vocal politician, has recently attracted significant public attention.

Prior to his arrest, he had reportedly sought asylum in eight countries; the United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, Germany, and Côte d’Ivoire citing political persecution and threats to his life.

Kwame Baffoe Abronye was first denied bail when arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court on September 9, 2025, and subsequently remanded into police custody.
