Ghanaian actor Koo Ofori, known for his role in the popular TV series Efiewura, has been granted bail in the sum of GHc320,000 with three sureties after pleading not guilty to charges of defrauding by false pretenses.
The actor, whose private name is Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, allegedly defrauded a California-based victim of $50,000 under the guise of a legitimate investment opportunity.
The Dansoman Circuit Court, presided over by Her Honour Mrs. Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Bassit, granted bail after Koo Ofori’s lawyer, Derick Asamoah, urged the court to admit him on grounds that he had substantial sureties and was not a flight risk.
The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, did not oppose the bail application.
As part of the bail conditions, Koo Ofori is required to report to the case investigator every Monday and deposit his Ghana Card with the court registry.
A bench warrant previously issued for his arrest was rescinded by the court.
