Ghana Freedom Party leader and presidential candidate Akua Donkor has made controversial statements targeting the Second Lady of the Republic, Samira Bawumia, and Fulanis in Ghana.
Akua Donkor vowed to evacuate Fulanis from the country if she assumes power. “I want to tell Fulanis, when I assume the high office in Ghana, no one will be left in Ghana,” she noted.
Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Angel FM, Akua Donkor blamed Fulani herdsmen for destroying crops and properties, and sometimes killing farmers.
She said, “Fulani herdsmen often clash with farmers who grow watermelon. They destroy the farmers’ crops and feed them to their animals. In some cases, they even kill farmers in their fields. Why do we allow such incidents to continue to happen? If farmers decide to stop farming, what will people eat?”
The presidential candidate advised Fulanis to return to their home country and urged Ghanaians to retrieve animals entrusted to Fulani caregivers.
“Fulani people should return to their home country. Any Fulani individual should begin preparing to leave.
“If you have entrusted animals to a Fulani person for care, retrieve them. If you fail to collect them, I will confiscate the animals and distribute them to prisons and those in need,” she stated.
The Ghana Freedom Party leader urged Ghanaian voters to consider her party in the upcoming December 7 presidential polls. “Ghanaians, when we are voting, vote for me.”
