Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande has strongly criticized the former administration of President Nana Akufo-Addo, labeling it a corrupt network that systematically drained the nation’s resources.
Speaking in an interview with JoyNews monitored by Kumasimail.com, Gbande assured that President Mahama’s administration is committed to tackling these issues head-on, emphasizing the need for accountability.
He said “I am just telling you that National security is not getting involved in most of these things for involvement’s sake
“They are crimes that have been established institutionalized for a very long time benefiting some individuals and national security is confronting these crimes head on”.
According to Gbande, the previous regime was not merely corrupt but a well-organized gang that established systems to siphon off national assets.
“President Akuffo Addo’s regime was not just a corrupt regime but it was a network of gang who bleed this nation, they actually established systems that take what belongs to this nation”
He highlighted various crimes, including revenue leakages, missing containers at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), and the circulation of fake dollars and gold bars, which were prevalent during Akufo-Addo’s tenure.
“the only reason why you and I are sitting here to discuss revenue leakages, you are I are sitting here to discuss missing containers at ECG, you and I sitting here many many crimes that National security is dealing with including this fake dollars and fake gold bars are things that were happening during President Akuffo Addo’s regime”
He noted that the current government faces the daunting task of rectifying the damage caused by the previous administration’s alleged malfeasance.
“President Mahama’s young Administration would have to carry the burden to fight all of this”, he stated.
