The Wassa Amenfi West Municipal office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with the Electoral Commission and the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), organized an educational event for first-time voters on Thursday, August 8, 2024.
The event took place at Asankragwa Senior High School and Asankragwa Secondary Technical School.
During the engagement, the Municipal Director of NCCE, Mrs. Gloria Hasford, urged students who are eligible to vote to take the upcoming elections seriously, emphasizing the impact their votes could have on their rights as Ghanaian citizens.
She also advised them to promote peace and resist being influenced by political actors to engage in violence before, during, or after the 2024 elections. Additionally, Mrs. Hasford provided insights on the Cybersecurity Act (Act 1038).
Mr. Bismark Addo from CHRAJ discussed Chapters 5 and 7 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, focusing on the right to vote and the laws governing the representation of the people.
The Deputy Electoral Officer of Wassa Amenfi West, Mr. Bright Hiadzi, and his team demonstrated the electoral process, providing students with a clear understanding of what to expect in the upcoming December elections.
