The Ashanti Regional executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have expressed profound gratitude to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his wise counsel, which they credit for their improved performance in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
Speaking during the first Awukudea Festival celebration in Manhyia Palace on 1srt January 2025, former Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Kwasi Ofori Agyemang highlighted the pivotal role Otumfuo’s advice played in their electoral success.
“Prior to the 2024 elections, our Regional Chairman, Augustus Nana Akwasi, sought your guidance. You advised us to clearly communicate our actions and effectively explain our campaign policies to the public. Otumfuo, we followed your advice, and the results are evident. The NDC’s parliamentary seats in the Ashanti Region have increased from three (3) to seven (7), with three more seats currently in contention. We are confident those seats will soon be declared in our favor, bringing our total seats in the region to ten (10),” he stated.
He further expressed appreciation, saying, “Otumfuo, we are here to thank you for the invaluable guidance you gave us.”
The former Obuasi MCE, who is reportedly being considered for the position of Kumasi Mayor, reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to the development of the Ashanti Region.
He also sought Otumfuo’s continued support for President John Dramani Mahama as he prepares to assume office on January 7, 2025.
The NDC delegation, led by Ashanti Regional Chairman Augustus Andrews Nana Akwasi, included Regional Secretary Dr. Frank Amoakohene, former Obuasi MCE Kwasi Ofori Agyemang, and several elected Members of Parliament from the December 7, 2024 elections.
