The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has dismissed claims by the Member of Parliament for Tafo that a classroom project he allegedly undertook personally was presented as a National Democratic Congress (NDC) government project.
In a post published on his official Facebook page, Dr. Amoakohene described the allegation as inaccurate and misleading, insisting that no educational project in the Tafo Constituency appears on the officially published list of 77 projects awarded under the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) for the 2025/2026 academic year in the Ashanti Region.
According to the Regional Minister, the duly published GETFund list does not include any project located within the Tafo Constituency, making it impossible for such a project to have been cited or presented as an NDC government initiative.
“In the interest of truth, transparency and public accountability, I respectfully challenge the Honourable Member to publish the specific project he is referring to, together with verifiable details, to enable the public to judge the matter fairly,” Dr. Amoakohene stated.
He stressed that public discourse on development issues must be guided by facts, accuracy and honesty, adding that misleading claims undermine public trust and accountability. Dr. Amoakohene reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that development interventions are communicated truthfully and that the public record is set straight.
In the same post, the Regional Minister published the full list of GETFund-awarded educational infrastructure projects in the Ashanti Region for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The projects include two new tertiary institutions the Drobonso College of Health Sciences and a Multipurpose TVET Centre at Chirapatre—as well as more than 70 other projects covering classroom blocks, dormitories, assembly halls, libraries, laboratories, staff accommodation and rehabilitation works across several districts.
Dr. Amoakohene thanked former President John Dramani Mahama for what he described as sustained investment in educational infrastructure in the region, noting that the projects are expected to significantly improve access to quality education across Ashanti.
The post has since generated public discussion on social media, with calls for political actors to substantiate claims relating to development projects with verifiable evidence.
