The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has met with the Site Advisory Team to review and approve the land acquisition plan for Phase One of the Outer Kumasi Ring Road project.
The minister disclosed this in a Facebook post, describing the project as a major step toward easing congestion in Kumasi and improving regional connectivity.
According to Dr. Amoakohene, Phase One of the project will cover approximately 47 kilometres of dual carriageway. The stretch will begin from Etia in the Juaben District, just after Ejisu, and end at Buoho in the Afigya Kwabre North District.
He explained that the project is designed to divert traffic from Kumasi’s central business district, reduce congestion, and create a dedicated bypass for heavy-duty trucks travelling to the northern parts of Ghana and neighbouring countries.
“This strategic infrastructure will improve safety, shorten travel time, enhance trade and logistics, and support economic growth across the Region,” the minister stated.
Dr. Amoakohene reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding and modernising road networks in the Ashanti Region to facilitate movement and accelerate development.
“We remain committed to delivering modern road networks that ease movement, open up communities, and accelerate development for our people,” he said.
The Outer Kumasi Ring Road project is expected to play a key role in decongesting the metropolis and improving transportation efficiency within the region.
