The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has disclosed that renovation works on his official residence are still ongoing, nearly a year after assuming office.
Speaking on DayBreak Morning Show on Fakye TV with host Kojo Marfo, Dr. Amoakohene provided updates on the state of government bungalows under the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC).
His comments come amid concerns over the poor condition of official state residences in the region.
It will be recalled that on January 10, 2025, executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, following their electoral victory, paid a courtesy visit to some of the official residences, including the Presidential Villa and the Minister’s bungalow. The executives expressed shock and dismay at the deteriorated state of the presidential facility and other government properties within the ARCC enclave.
Dr. Amoakohene confirmed that he inherited five state residences upon taking office; the Lake Bosomtwe Presidential Villa, two state lodges, the main Presidential Villa, and the Minister’s official bungalow.
“Out of the five, we have completed renovation works on three- the Lake Bosomtwe Villa, State Lodge One, and State Lodge Two. The minister’s residence is still under renovation as we speak,” he said.
Regarding the Presidential Villa, Dr. Amoakohene revealed that plans are underway to rehabilitate the structure to meet modern standards capable of hosting the President whenever he visits the region.
“The Presidential Villa is very old, and we intend to upgrade it so that when the President visits the Ashanti Region, he will not always have to lodge in hotels. We are, however, waiting for a financial commitment authorization from the Ministry of Finance to commence the project,” he explained.
Dr. Amoakohene emphasized that although only a year has passed since the current administration took office, significant progress has been made in restoring key government properties.
“Out of the five residences we inherited, three are completed, one is ongoing, and another is awaiting commencement. We are on course and will continue to do more,” he stated confidently.
