Member of Parliament for Old Tafo Constituency, Vincent Ekow Assafuah in a scathing rebuke has taken aim at John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), over his recent comments dismissing a debate with Dr. Bawumia.
Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Mahama is on recorded to have stated he will not elevate Bawumia to his level by debate, rather he should go and debate the people of Ghana and apologise to them and that he knows his level, a remark that Vincent Assafuah interprets as indicative of Mahama’s inability to participate in meaningful discourse.
Assafuah in a facebook post accused Mahama of resorting to “reckless rhetoric” throughout his political career, suggesting that true debates require intellectual rigor, which he claims Mahama lacks.
“Former President Mahama has consistently indulged in reckless rhetoric, both during his tenure as President and now as perpetual opposition leader”
The Mp added “True debates are led by individuals with strong intellectual fortitude, and it has become evident that the former President struggles to engage in substantive, issue-based discourse”.
The MP emphasized the importance of intellectual fortitude in leading debates and urged Mahama to shift focus towards a clean, policy-driven campaign.
“It is crucial that Mr. Mahama moves away from insults and focuses on running a clean, policy-driven campaign.
Asasfuah however stressed that Ghanaians need practical solutions, not insults.
“His efforts should be directed towards presenting practical solutions that address the needs of Ghanaians, rather than relying on divisive and confrontational language”, he noted.
