Newly sworn-in Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has assured the public of his commitment to thoroughly review evidence and information on ORAL Committee’s report on alleged corrupt issue for investigation by his office.
Speaking to the media shortly after being sworn in by President John Dramani Mahama, Dr. Ayine emphasized the distinction between general information gathered during investigations and admissible evidence that can be presented in a court of law.
“I will be meeting with the ORAL committee early next week, most likely on Monday, to be briefed on the progress they have made so far,” Dr. Ayine said.
He indicated that his primary focus will be on assessing the information the committee has collected and determining its relevance and applicability in legal proceedings.
“Listen carefully,” he stressed, “information that has been gathered is different from evidence that can be used in a court of law. My role will be to ensure that the information provided is transformed into admissible evidence that meets the standards of our legal system.”
Dr. Ayine’s remarks reflect his intention to bring precision and professionalism to the work of the Attorney General’s Department.
He acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence in the collective efforts of his team and the structures already in place.
President Mahama, during the swearing-in ceremony, charged Dr. Ayine and other newly appointed ministers to uphold the highest standards of governance and serve the people with humility and dedication.
Dr. Ayine, a seasoned lawyer and law professor, has a track record of public service and legal expertise.
His appointment is widely viewed as a step towards strengthening the justice delivery system and ensuring accountability in governance.
