The late Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Mahama Naser Toure, will be laid to rest today, Monday, January 5, following his death after a short illness.
The announcement was made by the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North, Yussif Jajah, who confirmed that Mr. Toure passed away on Sunday, January 4. He said swift arrangements were made for the release of the late MP’s body with the support of President John Dramani Mahama.
In line with Islamic tradition, a Janazah prayer will be held at exactly 10:00 a.m. at the Ayawaso East constituency office along the Kanda Highway. The prayer will be led by the National Chief Imam. Burial will take place afterward at the Madina Cemetery.
Paying tribute to his late colleague, Mr. Jajah described Mahama Naser Toure as a respected and dedicated leader whose death has created a significant void in Parliament and within the Ayawaso East constituency.
He noted that the four-term MP made a lasting impact through his parliamentary work and community initiatives, inspiring many young people to enter politics. Among his notable projects was “Operation Cement Your Lungu,” which contributed to improved sanitation and infrastructure in parts of Nima.
Mr. Jajah also credited the late MP with supporting road construction projects, improvements at the Nima Police Station, and development efforts at the Nima Government Hospital.
According to him, anyone who succeeds Mahama Naser Toure will face the difficult task of sustaining his development agenda and building on the legacy he leaves behind.
