Private legal practitioner Nana Yaw Osei has sharply criticized former Vice President and 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, alleging that he prioritizes personal political gain over fostering unity within the party.
Speaking in an interview on Kumasi-based Abusua FM’s weekend program Bresosem monitored by Kumasimail, Osei described Bawumia as a “nice person” but argued that his leadership lacks unifying qualities.
He said “If you see or meet Bawumia, he is a nice person but not a unifier. He does not want unity; if it will not help him, he does not like it”.
He emphasized that Bawumia rarely advocates for reconciliation, adding, “You won’t hear him say, ‘Let’s unite-bring back those who’ve left.’ He avoids such language.”
Osei further accused Bawumia of aligning with politically expedient positions rather than addressing contentious issues head-on.
“Politically, Bawumia supports whatever will benefit him. Because of his personal interests, he won’t step on your toes-whether for good or bad, he avoids stepping on anyone’s toes”, he remarked.
