The Interim Executive of the BlueLight Traders Association (BTLA) has issued a formal apology to the Minister for Interior and Member of Parliament for Asawase, Alhaji Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, following an incident of disrespectful behavior by some individuals during his recent visit to their community.
The Minister had visited the area to offer support to victims of the devastating fire outbreak at the Adum PZ market, bringing food supplies to affected traders, particularly mothers and children who had lost their livelihoods.
However, some individuals jeered at him and rejected the donated items, demanding alternative forms of assistance.
In a statement signed by its interim executives, the BTLA condemned the actions of the individuals involved, describing the incident as unfortunate and a result of misunderstanding and miscommunication.
The association emphasized that the behavior of a few did not reflect the views or values of the entire trader community.
“We sincerely apologize to Hon. Muntaka for this regrettable occurrence, believing strongly that this action was a result of misunderstanding and miscommunication among some members,” the statement read.
“In distressing times like these, frustrations and emotions can run high, sometimes leading to unintended expressions of displeasure. However, such conduct does not represent the values or intentions of the Association as a whole.”
The association also expressed appreciation for the Minister’s empathy and commitment to supporting the reconstruction of the affected trading area.
They further appealed for the return of the donated food supplies to ensure proper distribution among those in need.
“We earnestly hope that Hon. Muntaka will graciously accept our apology and continue collaborating with us in the spirit of goodwill, unity, and mutual respect,” the statement concluded.
The BlueLight Traders Association’s leadership urged affected traders to remain calm and cooperate with authorities to find lasting solutions to their challenges.
