Lawyer Clement Opoku Gyamfi has vehemently denied reports of an injunction against Kwame Asafo-Agyei Ayeh, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Bosome Freho Constituency.
According to media reportage, a Kumasi High Court had granted an interlocutory injunction against Asafo-Agyei Ayeh, restraining him from presenting himself as the NPP’s candidate due to alleged eligibility issues.
However, Lawyer Gyamfi has described the publication as “untrue” and “misleading”.
“We are shocked and disappointed by the false reportage,” Lawyer Gyamfi said in an interview with reporters.
“There’s no injunction against our client, and we urge the public to disregard the publication.” he insisted
The alleged injunction was said to have been filed by Yaw Amoah Gyamih, Chairman of the NPP’s Council of Elders in the constituency, who claimed Asafo-Agyei Ayeh did not meet the party’s eligibility criteria.
However, Lawyer Opoku Gyamfi insists that the report is “baseless” and “motivated by malice”.
The NPP is yet to officially comment on the matter, but sources close to the party indicate that Asafo-Agyei Ayeh remains the party’s parliamentary candidate for the Bosome Freho Constituency.
The development has sparked confusion among party supporters and constituents, who are eagerly awaiting clarification on the matter.
