The Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV says some events in the last few years have made him revisit his doubts about how genuine the widely circulated ‘Agyapadie’ book is.
Togbe Afede recalled a number of instances where he and his businesses were targeted in a ploy to get them out of the way.
“I found it difficult to believe that that was a genuine document but of course certain things we go through gave us thoughts to the contrary.
“I recall that in 2019 thereabouts, we received a letter for us to sign, pre-written in our names to sign to resign from the group of companies that advises government on its bonds issues. That came as a shock,” Togbe Afede recounted at a durbar during which he received former President Mahama and his campaign entourage.
He cited another instance where his business had an outstanding debt instrument which was not due, however, debt collectors came over to demand repayment.
“When I reflect on some of these things, the overlord said. “I begin to wonder.”
In the well publicized ‘Agyapadie’ document, it is claimed that there is a plot by the president and some people from Akyem to engage in state capture and plunder national resources.
On 1st August, 2024, President Akufo-Addo reacted to the ‘Agyapadie’ document, calling it a baseless attack to dent his credibility.
Similarly, the Okyenhene Osaagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin said the document sought to sow seeds of animosity towards the people of Akyem. He asked Ghanaians to disregard its validity.
