A senior research fellow at the Institute for Democratic Development Professor Kwesi Jonah is urging stakeholders in the electoral process to ensure that mechanisms are put in place to make our elections more credible and acceptable to all.
Speaking at a Seminar on EC Procedures for Electoral Officers and Publication of Results, Professor Jonah said despite the challenges in the 8 election cycles Ghana has had, they have been relatively credible and peaceful.
He however, wants more to be done to protect the gains achieved.
Dr. Serebuor Quarcoo, director of Training, at the Electoral Commission said the elections always been fair and transparent to political parties in all elections conducted the independent electoral commission.
He said” One good thing about Ghana’s elections is the transparency. Even before the EC comes out with the results, the media and over groups such as CODEO have the results’’.
He said, “The computers of political parties will only crash when the results are not going in their favour’’
