A District Court in Agona Swedru has temporarily barred incumbent Member of Parliament for Agona West Constituency, Cynthia Morrison from seeking reelection as an independent candidate.
The court in its ruling ordered the injunction should be in place until such time the case is fully determined.
Following the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the area, the former Gender Minister lost to Mr. Christopher Arthur.
Not long after, she disclosed at an engagement in the constituency that she was going to run as an independent candidate to complete the work she started.
The NPP’s outreach to her to discourage the parliamentarian from going solo has proven futile.
