Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has stated that the creation of the Savanna Region was not meant to bring divisions but to spearhead development for the Gonjaland.
He said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Overlord of Gonja Traditional Area, Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa at the Jakpa palace in Damongo in the Savannah Region.
” The creation of the Savannah Region was meant to harness development for the Gonjaland,” Dr Prempeh said.
Dr. Prempeh expressed deep recognition of the invaluable role that chiefs have historically played in the journey as a nation, especially during the struggle for independence. He noted that this legacy speaks to the tenacious commitment of our respected chiefs to Ghana’s progress.
“This is precisely why Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is committed to fostering close collaboration with traditional leaders, recognizing their germane role in national development,” he said.
NAPO expressed the conviction that Ghana’s future is bright, with chiefs holding a key place in shaping that promising path.
He added that the NPP have been supportive to the cause of Muslims and they have partnered with Muslims at the presidency and just as Dr. Bawumia supported President Akufo-Addo who is a southerner, same measure of support will be given to Dr. Bawumia to become president of Ghana.
According to the Yagbonwura, the creation of the region has brought peace, propelling development, strong human cohesion, creation of jobs and trade in the region.
He called for peace among Ghanaians ahead of the December polls.
