Wendell Nana Yaw Yeboah, a member of the civil society group Democracy Hub, has issued a formal retraction and apology after making unsubstantiated allegations against three Regional Ministers during a live radio interview on Aluta 92.1 FM’s Anopa Koko programme earlier on Tuesday.
In the press release, Yeboah acknowledged that he had alleged the involvement of the Regional Ministers for Ashanti (Dr. Frank Amoakohene), Western (Mr. Joseph Nelson), and Eastern (Madam Rita Akosua Awatey) in illegal mining activities—claims he now admits were not based on truth, evidence, or the official position of Democracy Hub.
“Upon deeper reflection, I wish to state emphatically that those remarks were not based on truth, evidence, or the official position of Democracy Hub,” the statement read.
Yeboah said the comments were made “in the spur of the moment” during the live broadcast, and conceded that they were inappropriate and unfounded. He fully retracted the allegations, stressing that he takes complete responsibility for the misstep.
He also issued an “unreserved apology” to the three Regional Ministers for any harm or distress caused by his remarks. Additionally, he apologised to Democracy Hub and the public for any misunderstanding or reputational damage that may have resulted from his comments.
“I reaffirm my commitment to ensuring that my future engagements are guided by facts, respect, and integrity,” he added.
The statement, dated November 18, 2025, was signed by Wendell Nana Yaw Yeboah.
