The Minority in Parliament has called for the resignation of the Clerk of Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, following his formal declaration that the Kpandai parliamentary seat is vacant.

Yesterday, Mr. Djietror officially notified the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission about the vacancy, citing a November 24, 2025, High Court ruling in Tamale that ordered a rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election.

This legal ruling effectively nullified the previous election results, prompting the declaration.

The announcement sparked strong reactions on the parliamentary floor today, with members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who constitute the Minority, breaking into patriotic songs including the national anthem.
They also vocally protested, repeatedly chanting “The Clerk of Parliament must go,” demanding Mr. Djietror’s immediate resignation over what they described as a controversial and divisive decision.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission has yet to issue a response regarding the Clerk’s notification and the status of the Kpandai seat vacancy.
The situation underscores rising tension in Parliament as the political parties prepare for the upcoming rerun election in Kpandai.
