Dennis Miracles Aboagye, spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 presidential campaign, has made a strong case for the former Vice President as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) most qualified and visionary leader.
According to Aboagye, Bawumia is only the party’s most experienced and active politician.
“In our party today, the most experienced and active politician is Dr. Bawumia; there’s no doubt about that.”
He insisted that data and political history support Bawumia’s candidacy as the most viable path forward for the party.
Speaking on JoyNews AM Show, monitored by Kumasimail.com, Aboagye emphasized that Bawumia’s extensive political career spanning 16 years equips him uniquely to address the pressing issues facing Ghanaians.
Aboagye said “He is the one who has been at the forefront actively today and has been more prominent in this country’s politics than any other person. He has been Vice President for 8 years, served as running mate for another 8 years that alone totals 16 years and he has also run for a presidential election”.
Aboagye highlighted the importance of party unity, stating ‘the NPP rank and file across the country are quite clear in their minds that our only fast route to power is to stay united, neatly and closely together, working behind a leader who has articulated clear-cut alternative policies on the issues that matter most to the people of this country’. And that leader is Dr. Bawumia,”he asserted.
Responding to criticisms from NPP Deputy Communications Officer Ernest Owusu Bempah, who attributed the party’s 2024 election loss partly to the choice of presidential candidate, Aboagye urged party members to focus on rebuilding and restructuring rather than internal divisions.
He noted that disagreements are expected in any internal contest but stressed Bawumia’s commitment to working with the party to regain power and implement transformative policies across sectors.
“I’m sure that you are aware we will be going into an internal contest. We should expect that even within our own party, people will disagree with each other and all of that, so let’s not worry too much or place too much premium on it”
He added “Even with comments like this, Dr. Bawumia’s posture is that team: let’s work with the party members who are committed to ensuring that we get back to power so we can implement the ideas we have for all these sectors.”
He cautioned against letting internal disputes distract the party from its mission.
“Sometimes emotions run high, but we must prioritize the party’s rebuilding and restructuring,” Aboagye emphasized.
