Dr. Stephen Amoah, popularly known as the Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso Constituency, has vehemently challenged the Osei Kyei Mensah’s post-election review committee to retract and apologize for what he describes as “blatant lies” in their report.

The committee’s findings criticized Dr. Amoah for running a campaign detached from the main constituency executives and being inaccessible to his constituents.

Speaking candidly on Kumasi based Hello FM, monitored by www.kumasimail.com Dr. Amoah dismissed these allegations as baseless, emphasizing that no one from the committee consulted his constituents during their review process.

“How is it that you conducted a report without anyone in the constituency saying that you contacted them?”, he quizzes.

He pointed out that his home is always open to the public, often hosting dozens of people on weekends, and that he frequently interacts with locals at public places like taxi ranks and markets.

Dr Amoah explained “Look, let’s say my house is supposedly inaccessible, but at my house, they call me the MP who fries eggs for them. Sometimes on Saturdays, about 70 people are in my house, and I eat with them. Ask the agents and the constituency people; they know even my bedroom. Honestly speaking, for security reasons, I shouldn’t mention this, but I will say it: there’s no padlock on my main gate. I can say I am the only MP who doesn’t have a padlock on his main gate. Nobody can say they were asked to stay outside the house and wait for me”.

Dr. Amoah highlighted his extensive community engagement, detailing numerous initiatives he has spearheaded:

1. Support for Taxi Drivers: He often visits taxi ranks, such as Santasi Roundabout and Cindy’s, where he provides financial assistance to drivers struggling with work.

2. Market Development: Dr. Amoah has provided GHC 100,000 to vendors at Santasi Market to expand their businesses, with an option to repay later. He also allocated GHC 10,000 for security measures.

3. Security Enhancements: At Atasamso Market, he personally funded the installation of gates to protect vendors from armed robbers.

4. Community Sports: Dr. Amoah established Kumasi FC, a football club for the youth in Nhyiaeso, and rented a house for the team.

Dr. Amoah revealed that he had previously discussed these issues with the former Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, who assured him of a resolution.

“When I spoke with Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu and explained all these issues to him, he advised me and promised to get back to me. I do not have a problem with him, but those spreading falsehoods should retract their statements and apologize because they are all lies”.

He expressed disappointment that these efforts were overlooked in the report and warned that if the committee fails to retract its statements, he will publicly disclose the reasons behind the party’s poor performance in the Ashanti Region during the 2024 elections.

“If they fail to apologize, I will reveal how we lost the 2024 election in the Ashanti Region. We will speak our minds on radio stations if this is what they want”, he fearlessly stated.

However, he made it clear that he will not be intimidated or silenced, drawing on his 30 years of political experience.

He emphasized “Nobody should call me or try to stop me because no one can intimidate me. I have been involved in politics for about 30 years.”
