National Democratic Congress (NDC) stalwart Dr. Tony Aidoo has sharply criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing it as an unchanging organization rooted in anti-nationalism, class, and tribalism.
Speaking in a recent interview with Radio Gold monitored by Kumasimail, Dr. Aidoo said the historical record proves the party’s persistent nature.
“The historical record doesn’t lie. It shows that they left their spots of esteem. The NPP, they will never change,” he asserted.
He continued to emphasize that the NPP’s core drive remains focused solely on control of the country, dismissing any notion of transformation.
“They will always be like that. They will always be an anti-national, class-based, tribal-based organisation.”
Reflecting on the NPP’s previous eight years in government under former President John Kufuor, Dr. Aidoo expressed disappointment with their performance.
“All they want is country of the country. We gave them 8 years to control the country. What did they do? Kufuor had 8 years. What did they do? What did they do?,” he asked rhetorically.
He criticized what he described as inconsequential projects, such as roadworks that disrupted traffic flow, saying, “Apart from that, ran-about on the way to the motorway. That was beyond our consideration to the flow of traffic. What did they do?.”
Dr. Aidoo also questioned the legitimacy of social intervention programmes during Kufuor’s administration, highlighting their reliance on foreign funding.
“There was no social intervention programme during Kufuor’s time that was not bankrolled by foreign governments. Whether it’s school feeding from the Netherlands, free maternal care from Britain, or national insurance it all depended on foreign support.”
