The National Disaster Resilience Improvement Project (DRIP) Secretariat has commenced a nationwide inspection of its equipment in preparation for the effective rollout of its 2025 work program.
During a visit to the Obuasi East and West Municipal Assemblies, the National Coordinator of DRIP, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, expressed concern over the poor storage conditions and maintenance of the machines. He urged local assemblies to urgently construct sheds to protect the equipment from deterioration.
“We cannot afford to invest in these machines and then leave them at the mercy of the weather due to lack of simple infrastructure,” Vanderpuye stated.
He criticized what he described as a neglect of maintenance culture and called on newly assigned machine operators and district coordinators to improve equipment care standards.
The Former MP questioned the district coordinating directors and road engineers about the failure to clean the machines after use, noting that many had been parked for months without proper washing.
“All unwashed machines must be taken to washing bays immediately,” he ordered.
The National Coordinator was accompanied on the inspection tour by the Deputy Director General of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Samuel Aboagye, and Ing. Danquah, the Ashanti Regional Liaison Officer of J.A. Plant Pool, a key machinery supplier.
The inspection is expected to continue in other regions in the coming weeks as DRIP prepares for full-scale implementation of its activities in 2025.
