The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has ramped up its preventive maintenance activities along the eastern corridor of the Ashanti Region as part of its Annual Maintenance Plan (AMP). The initiative is designed to improve service delivery, enhance network resilience, and reduce power interruptions for communities in the area.
On Tuesday, the exercise centered on the Akyawkrom Substation, a critical facility that supplies electricity to Ejisu, Juaben, Kumawu, Effiduase, Nsuta-Mampong, Bekwai, and several surrounding towns.

According to ECG, the maintenance works are intended to cut down on unplanned outages by detecting and addressing potential faults ahead of time.
The initiative also seeks to improve voltage quality to safeguard sensitive equipment in hospitals, industries, and homes; strengthen safety for both staff and residents; and protect key infrastructure to ensure the long-term reliability of the power network.

The Acting Director of Operations, Ing. Ibrahim Yakubu, commended the team for executing the exercise efficiently.
“Thanks for the great work done.Kindly extend our appreciation and gratitude to your team for their sacrifices,” he said.

ECG says it remains committed to providing safe, reliable, and high-quality electricity to residents across the Ashanti Region.
