Ntim Obeng, widely known as Hon. Bronya, Assemblyman for Gyamerakrom Electoral Area in the Biakoye District of the Oti Region, has donated essential learning materials and supplies to 10 Senior High School (SHS) students in his constituency.
The donation included chop boxes, mattresses, and exercise books aimed at easing the transition for the students as they begin their SHS journey.
Speaking to the media, Hon. Bronya shared his personal struggles during his school days as a native of Worawora.
He recounted growing up without support from his father and relying solely on his mother to fund his education, which he described as a difficult foundation. Motivated by his own challenges, he rallied friends and colleagues to support SHS freshers who were not beneficiaries of a prior donation from the Biakoye Member of Parliament (MP).
“During my school days, I suffered a lot. I did not even know the whereabouts of my father. My mother supported my schooling, but my foundation was weak. By God’s blessing, I managed to overcome these hardships and reach where I am now. I realize some parents neglect schooling while others lack the financial means to support their children,” he said.
Hon. Bronya explained that the MP’s donation targeted students with aggregate scores from 6 to 16, leaving many freshers without support. After identifying this gap, he pledged to assist the remaining students with contributions from himself and others.
He further emphasized that his support for students will be ongoing.
“I will consistently check on students from my electoral area and will continue providing financial assistance even after my term as Assemblyman ends. This will set an example for whoever succeeds me,” he remarked.
Addressing community issues, Hon. Bronya appealed to residents to actively participate in communal labor projects.
He highlighted the lack of toilet facilities and waste containers as a major sanitation challenge in the electoral area, urging collective action to improve hygiene conditions.
“Initially, community participation was strong but has since declined. Even with this recent donation, some beneficiaries initially refused to sign up but later accepted when they saw it was genuine,” he noted.
“We have a serious problem with toilet facilities and waste management that requires urgent attention.”
Parents of the beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to
Hon. Bronya for his timely support, praying for his good health and continued commitment to the community.
“We are very thankful to our Assemblyman for this generous support. We pray for his good health so he can continue serving our community,” they said.
