President John Dramani Mahama has appointed an eight-member committee to organize the National Education Forum, fulfilling his commitment to strengthening Ghana’s education sector.
The committee is chaired by former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Professor George K. T. Oduro. It has been given two weeks to develop a comprehensive plan and submit its report.
Other members of the committee include distinguished education experts and stakeholders: Professor Goski Alabi, Professor Rosemary Bosu, Samuel Awuku, Ph.D., and Professor Smile Dzisi. Additionally, Kofi Asare, Stephen Owusu, and Inusah Shiraz will contribute their expertise to the planning process.
The committee’s Terms of Reference include:
Developing themes and sub-themes to guide stakeholder engagement, Identifying key stakeholders such as students, teachers, parents, researchers, civil society organizations, and policymakers, Proposing a venue, date, and budget for the forum, Drafting a national education policy framework with an implementation plan.
The Forum aims to provide a platform for inclusive dialogue on Ghana’s education system, bringing together stakeholders from various sectors to discuss policies, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Speaking on the initiative, the Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, emphasized the government’s commitment to advancing quality education in Ghana.
The committee is expected to submit its findings and recommendations within two weeks, paving the way for policy development and actionable reforms in the education sector.
