Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, has issued a stern warning to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) against attempting to intimidate members of the ruling party ahead of the December 7th elections.
Speaking to party members in Effia, Takoradi, Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasized that the NPP has never been easily intimidated, even when they were in opposition, and certainly will not be now that they are in government.
“No one can intimidate us. Even when we were in opposition, no one could intimidate us, and now that we are in government, you want to intimidate us?” he asserted.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh expressed confidence in the NPP’s prospects in the upcoming elections, citing the party’s achievements over the past eight years, despite global economic challenges. He also highlighted the accomplishments of his flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, comparing them favorably to those of former President John Mahama.
“You cannot compare the achievements of Dr. Bawumia in his almost eight years as Vice President with that of John Mahama, who served four years as Vice President and four years as President,” Dr. Opoku Prempeh stated.
He further pointed out, “Bawumia’s boss did not set up a committee to investigate him, but the other one had that. So, Bawumia is not corrupt.”
The NPP organized a health walk in Takoradi ahead of their manifesto launch on Sunday, with participation from prominent party members, including Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, former Railways Minister Joe Ghartey, and several parliamentary candidates from the region.
