The former Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Kojo Bonsu, has expressed confidence that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will secure at least 30% of the votes in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Speaking to Kumasimail while monitoring the special voting exercise at the Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti Region, the former Kumasi Mayor described the December 2 special voting exercise as generally peaceful.
He stated, โIn the entire constituency that I have visited as part of the monitoring, I can tell you it is incident-free. We havenโt recorded any incident at any center.โ
Kojo Bonsu disclosed, โFrom the look of things now in the Ashanti Region, we are likely to exceed our target because we have worked for it. What you see in the Manhyia South Constituency should give you an idea of what is happening across Ashanti.โ
He explained, โAll those who watched our walk in Kumasi yesterday know what will happen in Ashanti. I was a mayor of Kumasi, so I know what Iโm saying when I predict that we will get over 30% of the votes in the region. If the NPP doesnโt take care, we may even achieve 40%.โ
Kojo Bonsu encouraged all voters who registered for the special voting exercise to come out in their numbers to vote for the NDC.
โTo all our friends in the media and the security agencies, it is time to vote the incompetent NPP government out of power and usher in the NDC to restore the countryโs economic freedom and independence,โ he urged.
However, as of 12 p.m., not a single constituency in the region had recorded a 70% turnout. This development was described as unfortunate by representatives of the political parties.
