Election 2024: NAPO, Wontumi and others to launch NPP Ashanti regional campaign on Sunday

The Ashanti regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), will on Sunday 11th August 2024 launch the party’s regional campaign and campaign song composed by Evangelist Diana Asamoah in Kumasi.

The event will be graced by Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Vice Presidential candidate of the incumbent New Patriotic party.

The regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi will use the event to outdoor various campaign committees and campaign teams constituted by the regional executive with assigned responsibilities at the various electoral areas across the 47 constituencies in the region.

Ahead of the campaign launch Chairman Wontumi disclosed the NPP  is winning the election 2024 with Ashanti votes by securing at least 85% votes from their major stronghold of the party.

He said “we did it in 2016 and 2020. This election the NPP is winning it with tactics that the NDC our opponent cannot march. I have heard the NDC claiming they will win the 2024 election with Ashanti votes of 35%. We shall see who rules the region after launching our campaign. I want to tell the NDC that the job is on the ground and in the Ashanti region, the NPP is in charge. Nothing more’’ he reiterated .

He further added that history is against the NPP’s attempt to ‘break the 8’, however, with determination and extraordinary hard work the NPP is in the position to set a new record of being the first party to run the country for three continues terms in office.

“ Yes I mean history is against our attempt to break the 8. Former President Rawlings Kuffour, and Atta Mills Mahama government all failed to break the 8. So if you look at things it means every 8 years Ghanaians change governments. But with the work we have done across the country  right now. I can say on authority that with hard work and effective communication by highlighting the good work of Nana Addo Government/ Dr. Bawumia government, trust me Ghanaian will give us another opportunity to  run this country again’’ he Kojo Marfo on Abusua FM.

Manhyia South Member of Parliament who doubles as running mate to Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia is expected to be the face of the party’s campaign in the Ashanti region with the task of ensuring the party secures its target of 85% in the region in partnership with Wontumi.

Currently, a private office is being prepared for him in the region ahead of the major NPP campaign in the region with a special team that will lead the party’s elections strategy across the 47 constituencies.

Currently, it appears the party has given up on the Asawase parliamentary seat after suffering a worse defeat in election 2020.

The party focus in the constituency is to significantly maximas Vice President Mahama Bawumia’s votes in the region.

However, special effort has been directed to the Sekyere Afram Plains constituency (Drobonso) , New Edubiase and Ejura constituency to check if the party can shock the NDC by snatching at least 2 out of the three dominated NDC constituencies in the region.
