On Sunday, August 4, 2024, the Asawase Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti region organized a highly patronized health walk, led by former Minority Chief Whip Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed, MP for Asawase.
The event was attended by thousands of supporters and graced by notable figures, including former Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu, Ashanti regional Chairman Augustus Nana Kwasi, Francis Xavier Sosu, MP for Madina, Ibrahim Muntala, and Adams Abdul Salam, MP for New Edubiase.
After the walk, party supporters converged at the Aboabo School Park to launch the party’s elections 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections campaign.
Addressing the crowd, Muntala Ibrahim urged the electorate to vote massively to retain him in parliament, describing the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, as a “chronic liar” who doesn’t represent the teachings and values of Islam.
Haruna Iddrisu commended the party for uniting behind Muntaka Mohammed ahead of the elections. He emphasized the NDC’s commitment to securing all votes for their presidential and parliamentary candidates.

Muntaka Mohammed commended his colleagues for supporting him during the campaign launch. He urged party supporters to adopt a strategy of policing their ballots during the counting process to prevent rigging. He assured the NPP that the NDC is prepared to match them squarely in the Ashanti region.
The event marked the beginning of the NDC’s campaign in the Ashanti region, with a target of securing 35% of the region’s votes. The party is confident in its ability to secure victory in the upcoming elections.
